This nugget comes from the fine folks at TaylorMade Golf. When I read it on their Facebook page, it was one of those slap-yourself-in-the-forehead moments when I went, “Why didn’t I think of that?”
So here it is:
“HOLIDAY TRAVEL TIP: If you have an adjustable driver, avoid the heartbreak of discovering a broken gamer in your travel bag by outsmarting the airlines.
Before you send your sticks through security, use your white TaylorMade wrench to unscrew and remove your driver head, carefully storing it in a side pocket and eliminating the risk of the shaft flexing during transit and breaking.”
How smart is that? When I travel with my clubs, the biggest thing I worry about is having a club break in transit. As soon as I get my travel bag, I immediately open it to make sure my driver is still in one piece.
I would think that separating the driver head from the shaft as you pack your travel bag would greatly reduce the risk of a broken club.
Thanks for the tip TaylorMade. It’s so simple, it’s genius.
