A couple of items on this lovely Friday as I prep for what should be a nice weekend of golf.

– First, many congratulations to blog reader Andy Ryall. He posted a photo on Facebook of his first-ever hole in one, recorded last night at Island View Golf Club in Waconia. It was an 8-iron from 138 yards. Based on the Island View scorecard, I’m assuming the ace came on the 16th hole.

Andy said the ball initially stuck between the pin and the edge of the cup but then fell in.

While a hole in one is always good news, Andy shared one more bit of good news: The bar bill was only about $150 with tip.

– Second, my latest blog post for the fine folks at 2nd Swing has gone live. I wrote about the Hundred Hole Hike, what it is and why I won’t be doing it this year.

– I’m a good way through Hank Haney’s book on Tiger, “The Big Miss.” So far it is very interesting. I will provide a longer review upon completion.

– Weekend golf plans: North Oaks on Saturday, Southview on Sunday. Looking forward to it.
